A farmer is building a grain silo for storage. he estimates that will need 256 cubic yards of storage. the grain silo will be shaped as a cube. how long should one side of the grain silo be? (recall that the volume of a cube is calculated by l3, where l is the length of one side).

Volume of a cube with a = length of a side i
V = a^3

The given volume is 256 yd^3.
Therefore
a^3 = 256
a = 256^(1/3) = 6.35 yd = 19.05 ft

Answer: 6.35 yd
