12x = money made
20+8x = cost
where x is the number of t-shirts made
selling for $12 ea
...
Amount made - cost = profit
12x - (20+8x) = 100
12x - 20 - 8x = 100
4x = 100 + 20

4x = 120
x = 30 shirts

Answer:

30

Explanation:

Let x be the number of t-shirts. The t-shirts are sold at $12 and it takes $20 for all the tshirts plus $8 per tshirt. The profit is defined as the price sold minus the price to make the tshirts:

100=12\cdot{x}-(20+8\cdot{x})

We can solve for x:

100=12\cdot{x}-20-8\cdot{x}

120=4\cdot{x}

x=30

The company must sell 30 tshirts to atleast make $100 profit
