the figures above are similar. Find the missing length . show your work. 1. is 5" x 3" the other is 3" by ?

If one is 5"x3", and the other having the same orientation is 3"x?, then
by similar figures,
5/3=3/x
cross multiply,
5x=3*3
x=9/5=1.8"

With the original figure, it is possible to validate the above answer.
