Here the given function,


f(x) = 2^(x+2) - 5

For x= 0, y-coordinate =
f(0) = 2^(0+2) - 5 = 2^2-5 = -1

For x = 1, y-coordinate =
f(1) = 2^(1+2) - 5 = 2^3-5 = 3

Thus, The average rate of change from x = 0 to x = 1

=
(f(1)-f(0))/(1-0)

=
(3-(-1))/(1-0)

=
(3+1)/(1)

= 4
