(x,y) =(a,7)
x= a
y= 7
5x-y=8
By substituting the value of y
5x-7 =8
5x=15
x= 3
As x = a=3
So, a =3

5x - y = 8
5x - 7 = 8
5x = 8+7
5x = 15
x = 3
a=x=3
Answer: a=3
