If Rosina charges $40 for babysitting for 5 hours and $48 for babysitting for 6 hours, how long does she babysit for $1?

I think it is 8 minutes. You can use a proportion as follows:

5 x (Time)
---- = ----
40 1 (Money)

Then just solve for x.

$ 40 for 5 hrs.....40/5 = $ 8 per hr

8 / 60 = 1 / x...$ 8 to 60 min = $ 1 to x minutes
cross multiply
8x = 60
x = 60/8
x = 7.5 minutes <==
