easier to write
With the introduction of the zero we can now write very big or very small number with no need to introduce new symbols.
For example the Egyptians had symbols for 100, 1000, 10,000 etc.
we only need 2 symbols!!!

The invention of zero was made so that there would be a number for nothing

if you have nothing, you can't just say "nothing" in mathematics, so it was named zero. Also, it would have been impossible to write "ten" without a "zero". Zero literally was a filler for an empty space.
Take for another example 206. Without the zero, it would be pronounced twenty-six, even though they were really trying to ask for two-hundred-and-six. Without the zero, numbers would be a lot harder to be made out. (especially when you are trying to say you don't have any of that thing! which means i have zero of that thing lol)

hope this helps
