"Love in the Moonlight"

by Dillon York

No one knows I'm here.
Silvery strands of moonlight.
Shh. Meet me by the ancient oak.
What bird will dare but the great horned owl?
The fire within my heart burns only for you.
Do you love me too?

Which word best describes the tone of the poem?

pessimistic
sentimental
ironic
nostalgic

Answer:

The correct answer is sentimental.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the poem Love in the Moonlight you can see a lover addressing his beloved one.

Apparently he wants to meet his love at midnight and he asks if he is loved back.

The tone in a poem is the attitude that a person feels when reading it, and the attitude that the writer wants to convey to the readers.

In this case, the tone is merely sentimental.

The correct answer should be Sentimental.

Pessimistic would be if there was no hope for him or his love, while ironic would be if nothing that he mentioned was going to happen. Nostalgic would be if he spoke about previous times he was there, but he isn't so it's therefore sentimental because he talks of love.
