Here, we want to dilate the given shape using the given scale factor

To dilate the shape, we need the coordinates of the shape before we can apply the dilation

Let us use the scale on the graph that each small square represents 1 unit on both axes

The coordinates of each of the points are as follows;

M (-5, 1)

U (-1,3)

Y(-2,-1)

By applying the dilation, we are going to get a new set of points with each coordinate multiplied by exactly 1/2

Thus, we have

M'(-2.5 , 0.5)

U' (-0.5 , 1.5)

Y' ( -1 , -0.5)

Now we will draw a triangle with these new set of points. The first thing to do here is to identify the points on the grid

Kindly note that all the points having a .5 notation such as 2.5 is in between the number before the decimal, and the next integre after it

Hence, we have 2.5 between 2 and 3, 0.5 between 0 and 1 and so on
