To solve the given expression for p we proceed as follows;
3p-7+p=13
first we collect the like term, these are the terms which have the same variable or power;
3p+p=13+7
4p=20
to get the value of p we divide both sides by 4;
(4p)/4=20/4
p=5
the answer is p=5
