Writing is a very personal exercise that can rightly be evaluated based on certain coordinates like grammar and syntax, coherence, congruity, use of sources, arguments and counter arguments, and content in general. These are all good peer review coordinates, but comparing somebody´s writing with others´ writing is not only a negative possibility, but it can actually harm the style and contents of somebody´s writing. Peer reviews should focus in on the writing in question, objectively, independently of other people´s writing.
