The correct answer is C. The island is known for its lush, hardy vegetation.
When there are numerous adjective describing a certain noun, all of them have to be separated using a comma. However, this comma is only found between these adjectives, not between the adjective and the noun which is why D is incorrect. The other two options place commas in incorrect places too.
