Volume=(pi)(radius^2)(height)
245(pi)=(pi)(r^2)(5)
245=(r^2)(5)
49=r^2
radius=7
diameter=14

Answer:

The diameter is 7.9 units. The option closest to it is 7 units.

Explanation:

The formula for volume of cylinder is = V =
\pi r^(2) h

We have been given that the volume of the cylinder is 254 cubic units.

The height is given as = 5 units

We have to find the diameter of the cylinder.

Putting the values in the formula we get:

245=3.14*r^(2) *5

r^(2) = (245)/(3.14*5)

r^(2) =15.60

This gives r = 3.95 units

Now diameter is double of radius so, diameter is =
2*3.95=7.9 units.

The diameter is 7.9 units. The option closest to it is 7 units.

We can check the validity of the answer by putting r=3.95 in the formula.

3.14*3.95^(2)*5 = 244.959 ≈ 245 cubic units.
