What is the difference between a physical change and a chemical change? A physical change is only a phase change but a chemical change can be any type of change. A physical change does not change the identity of the substance but the chemical change does. A physical change breaks and forms bonds but a chemical change does not change the bonds. A physical change only changes the color but a chemical change never changes the color.

a physical change is something like the mixture changing colors or going from a solid to a liquid, it is something that can usually be reversed. a chemical change is something that cannot be reversed like metal developing rust
