QUESTION 1

The given data set is;

26,19,23,39,31,34,23,25

The mean can be found using the formula;

\bar X =(\sum x)/(n)

\Rightarrow \bar X =(26+19+23+39+31+34+23+25)/(8)

\Rightarrow \bar X =(220)/(8)

\Rightarrow \bar X =27.5

QUESTION 2

To find the range we may sort the data to obtain;

19,23,23,25,26,31,34,39

We see that the maximum value is 39 and least value is 19

The range is the largest value minus the least value.

This implies that;

Range=39-19

\Rightarrow Range=20

range: largest number minus the smallest number
39 - 19 = 20
your range is 20

Mean: add all of the numbers and divide by the amount of numbers there are.

26+19+23+39+31+34+23+25= 220
220/8 = 27.5

your mean is 27.5

hope this helps
