Complementary angles ( a and b ) are equal to 90 °
90° - a = b
90° - 40° = b
b = 50°
Supplementary angles ( b and c ) are equal to 180 °, so..
180° - b = c
180° - 50° = c
c = 130°
Measure b + Measure c = 180° btw
