A kite and its tail total 32 feet in length. The tail is 18 feet longer than the length of the kite's body. How long is the kite's tail?

well the way I did it was 32-18 and I got 14 feet then I added 18 to 14 and got 32 so the tail should be 18 feet

Answer: 25 feet

Explanation:

Given : A kite and its tail total 32 feet in length.

Let the length of kit be
x , then the length of its tail will be
x+18 .

Now, According to the question , we have


x+x+18=32\\\\\Rightarrow\ 2x+18=32

Subtract 18 on both the sides, we get


2x=14

Dividing 2 on both the sides , we get


x=7

Hence, the length of kite = 7 feet

Then the length of kite's tail =
7+18=25\text{ feet}
