d=16

d-10-(-2+1/2*d)=0

simplify

(d-10)-(-2+(1/2*d))=0

rewrite as an equivalent fraction

(using 2 as the denominator)

-2=-2/1=-2*2/2

adding fractions with common denominator

-2*2+d/2=d=4/2

(d-10)-(d-4)/2=0

rewrite the whole as a fraction using 2 as your denominator

d-10= d-10/1= (d-10)*2/2

d-16/2=0

get rid of the denominator

d=16/2*2=0*2

solve

d-16=0

d=16
