Tracy works at a sporting goods store that sells 18 snowboard models and 6 skateboard models. She just got a call from her supplier that one of the models has been discontinued.

The probability that the discontinued model is a snowboard is .

If you use a spinner divided into four equal sections with two sections for snowboards and two for skateboards to simulate this situation, the probability of a snowboard being the discontinued model is .

This result means that the simulation is for the situation.

To determine the probability that snowboard is the discontinued model, let us use the formula,

P = number of favorable outcome / number of total outcome

Since there will be a spinner divided into four. Two each for snowboard and skateboard. There will be two favorable outcomes for the snowboard to be predicted as the discontinued model.

Therefore,

P = 2/4

The probability of the snowboard to be discontinued is 2/4 or 50%

Answer:

1. Tracy works at a sporting goods store that sells 18 snowboard models and 6 skateboard models. She just got a call from her supplier that one of the models has been discontinued.

Total goods =
18+6=24

The probability that the discontinued model is a snowboard is :
(18)/(24) *100=75%

2. If you use a spinner divided into four equal sections with two sections for snowboards and two for skateboards to simulate this situation, the probability of a snowboard being the discontinued model is .

(2)/(4) =0.5 or 50%.

3. This result means that the simulation is NOT SUITABLE for the situation.
