The First and Second Opium Wars determined Chinese relationships with: British kingdom

In order to match China' trading power, The britsh create several opium plantations in India and distribute them to china.
British empire's actions caused a massive increase of opium addicts in China which heavily slowed down their economic progress, which really anger Chinese government.
