Explain the structure and language of the two love poems "To my dear and loving husband" and "A letter to her husband" by Anne Bradstreet and how the lyrical language allowed the poet to describe their sexuality in a way that was never discussed in their culture.

Answer:

Based on the era these poems were written in, it was congruous and to some, inappropriate to speak so openly about the relationship you had with your spouse. These two love poems defied that belief. They both spoke so shamelessly about the love and desire she felt to be with her husband again. In one of the poems, she stated, "I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold." This shows how highly she thought of her marriage. She was unapologetic for publishing her love to the world because her love was worth more to her than what other people thought.

The poem is made to show some type of great chemistry in their conjugal relationship.

This poem took place in 1641-1643, which was not appropriate to be discussing your relationship in such a manner at that time. You had to be discreet.
