(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)

Now since points (-1,-1) and (2,5) are on the graph given it means

f(-1)=-1 and f(2)= 5

So using the formula and given values we get

(f(2)-f(-1))/(2-(-1))

=
(5-(-1))/(2-(-1))
