The number of bacteria in a certain population increases according to a continuous exponential growth model, with a growth rate parameter of

1.4%
per hour. How many hours does it take for the size of the sample to double?

How do you solve this

If it's growing at the rate of 1.4% per hour, then each hour the sample is 101.4% of what it was previously. So:
1.014^t=2 (to double)
ln 2=ln 1.014^n=t ln 1.014
t =ln 2/ln 1.014=49.85 hours to double.
