Pattern is square of nth term and

16 squares are the next term.

Explanation:

Here we can see that first figure has 1 dot

then second figure had 4 squares

third figure has 9 dots .

so its square of the nth term

nth term will be given by
n^(2)

for next term we shall plug n =4 which gives


4^(2) =16

16 squares will be the next term in the sequence
