The product of some negative number and 5 less than three times that number is 12. Find the number.

(x)(3x - 5) = 12
3x^2 - 5x = 12
3x^2 - 5x - 12 = 0
(x - 3)(3x + 4) = 0
x = 3, -4/3
The answer must be negative so the number is -4/3.
