The number of boys on the honor roll increased by 20%, that makes 100*20% = 20 boys more than the previous year. Then, this year there are 100 + 20 = 120 boys.

The number of girls on the honor roll increased by 18%, that makes 50*18% = 9 girls more than the previous year. Then, this year there are 50 + 9 = 59 girls.

Total number of students: 120 + 59 = 179

That is 179 - 150 = 29 students more than the previous year. This represents an increase of 29/150*100 = 19.3%
