The amount of space occupied by any object is said to be its volume. The base S.I. unit for measuring the volume is litre.

A: the mass of liquid which is required to fill a container is not volume because volume is space occupied by an object which can be in any state.

B:
length* width * height is formula not the definition of volume.

C: the space occupied by liquid is not volume because volume can be calculated for matter in any state, for example: one can calculate volume of solid, liquid and gas.

D: the space occupied by mass is volume because anything that occupies space has mass. So, it cannot be particularly for solid or liquid or gas.

Hence, option D is the correct answer.
