A 40-year-old male client with arthritis of the knee joint has been prescribed an analgesic to relieve the pain. what is a narcotic analgesic?

A narcotic analgesic is by prescription only.  It is usually stronger than over the counter medications.  Some examples are Demerol, morphine sulfate, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, Lortab, etc

I know Demerol and Subutex are a couple common ones.
