Both Darwin and Lamarck proposed mechanisms by which species might evolve. Although Darwin first published his ideas in the mid-1800s, most scientists continued to favor Lamarck's explanation until near the end of that century. What was the most likely cause of the eventual shift from Lamarck's hypothesis to that proposed by Darwin? (2 points)

A new generation of scientists was more open to considering new ideas.
Lamarck's hypothesis did not take into consideration all that had been learned about genetics.
More evidence accumulated supporting Darwin's ideas than could be found to support Lamarck's.
It took several decades for Darwin's ideas to appear in textbooks and for scientists to learn about them.

Answer:

Scientific ideas are always welcome as a matter of thinking about something, for example, Darwin and Lamarck

Step-by-step explanation:

Lamarck proposed an idea of how species could evolve, it was a good idea actually if we think nowadays in epigenetics, but it lacked evidences. For a scientific theory to be considered good enough, it needs to have good evidences of that happening, and Lamarck's ideas were poor on that matter. Besides that, Darwin proposed a different idea at the time, with very good background behind it, and a book too. At the time, it took a little bit of time for the scientists to check Darwin's theory, but the accumulated evidence was taken into consideration by the scientists, and through that, Lamarck's ideas were not considered good enough to explain evolution anymore.
