During a long drive tony counted the number of pick ups and sedans he saw driving in the opposite direction. After a while he noticed that on average there were 5 sedans for every 2 pick ups. At this rate how many pick ups would he have counted if he had passed 35 sedans

Answer: 14 pick ups

Explanation:

Given : The rate of pick up : 5 sedans for every 2 pick ups.

Let x be the number of pick ups he have counted if he had passed 35 sedans.

If the rate remains constant then according to the question, we have the following equation:-

(x)/(35)=(2)/(5)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=(35*2)/(5)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=14

Hence, the number of pick ups he have counted if he had passed 35 sedans =14
