We know that M is the midpoint of XY line, which we conclude that there are two lines XM and MY, and they are both equal, so
2x+11=5x-16
Subtract 2x for both side
2x+11-2x=5x-16-2x
11=3x-16
Add 16 for both side
11+16=3x-16+16
27=3x
Divided 3 for both side
27/3=3x/3
x=9
Check:
2x+11=5x-16
2(9)+11=5(9)-16
18+11=45-16
29=29. As a result, D is the final answer. Hope it help!
