Based on the figurative language, something in common between both authors would be: They both are angry at their circumstances.

The authors from the caged bird complained why man do not have the freedom to fly freely like a bird, and he hated it.
In Shakespeare sonnet 29, there is a line that stated look upon myself and curse my fate, which indicated that he's angry about his circumtances
