What does it mean for a weak acid to be in equilibrium?

A weak acid in equilibrium would mean that the solution contains the corresponding ions and the acid molecule that are in equilibrium with each other. A weak acid is an acid that does not dissociate completely into ions. Therefore, the solution would have the HA molecule as well with, H+ and A- ions.
