An author's mood and tone have a great effect in constructing and reflecting identity.
Also, author's purpose, P.I.E. : Persuade, Inform, or Entertain.

Easiest examples of iconic authors imo:

William Shakespear: rule of three
Edgar Allan Poe
Stephen King
etc

Make sure to identify the authors' writing patterns, mood, tone, and reason

(Hope this helps, I'm a student but I'm good at English <3)
