The Constitution of the Confederate States of America:

1) Ensured that the institution of slavery would continue to exist in this nation- The existence of slavery was extremely important to the Confederate States, as this was the most popular crop in these states and helped to generate millions of dollars of revenue on a yearly basis.

2) State's rights would be protected- When these states were part of the US, many Southerners disliked the Northern industrialists attempts to constantly get tariffs passed. A tariff is a tax on an imported good. These tariffs often hurt the Southern economy because it decreased the amount of countries that wanted to trade with the South.
