A baseball has a mass of 140 grams and a softball has a mass of 280 grams. In which of the following situations would they both have the same momentum?

A.) The baseball and softball are thrown at 33 m/s in the same direction.

B.) The baseball and softball are thrown at 33 m/s in opposite directions.

C.) The baseball is thrown at 25 m/s and the softball is thrown at 50 m/s.

D.) The baseball is thrown at 50 m/s and the softball is thrown at 25 m/s.

Please answer asap. Thanks in advance

Since the baseball is half the weight of the softball, the baseball has to go twice as fast as the softball.

So the best answer would be D

Answer:

D.) The baseball is thrown at 50 m/s and the softball is thrown at 25 m/s.

Step-by-step explanation:

mass of ball 1

m_1 = 140 grams

mass of ball 2

m_2 = 280 grams

now we know that if the momentum of two balls are same then we will have

P_1 = P_2

m_1v_1 = m_2 v_2

so we have

140 v_1 = 280 v_2

v_1 = 2 v_2

so velocity of light ball must be twice the velocity of heavy ball

so correct answer will be

D.) The baseball is thrown at 50 m/s and the softball is thrown at 25 m/s.
