King apparently said that people have a good right to accept just laws just as they have that very good right to oppose unjust laws such as the laws of separation between whites and black Americans in some southern states.

He wrote that when the laws are not actually true to what they are meant to do, then revolution and civil rebellion is justified .His writing the letter has caused a statement made by eight white Alabama ministers a couple of days earlier
