DRI refers to the Daily Recommended Intake, or the number of kilo-calories that a person should consume on a daily basis. These calories should contain a balanced amount of the necessary macronutrients and micronutrients that the body needs to power and sustain the energy it needs on a regular basis.

The DRI for males and females vary. Males require an ideal DRI of 2,500 kilo-calories while females require an ideal DRI of 2,000 kilo-calories. DRI is not fixed in that said number and may still vary on the person's age, metabolism, level of activities, among others.
