4x+5=13
-5 -5
4x=8
/4 /4
x=2
you subtract 5 from both sides which makes 4x=8 then you divide by 4 on both sides and 8 divided my 4 equals 2 so x is 2.

4x+5=13
Start by subtracting 5 from both sides:
4x+5-5=13-5
4x=8
Divide both sides by 4 to isolate x
x=2
