2.25 - 11j - 7.75 + 1.5j = 0.5j - 1

Add like terms.

(-11j + 1.5j) + (2.25 - 7.75) = 0.5j - 1

Simplify.

-9.5j + (-5.5) = 0.5j - 1

Add 5.5 to both sides, as well as subtracting 0.5j from both sides.

-9.5j - 0.5j = -1 + 5.5

Simplify.

-10j = 4.5

Divide both sides by -10.

j = -0.45

A) j = -0.45
