The answer is buffer. A buffer solution is one which opposes changes in pH when little amounts of a corrosive or a salt are added to it. An acidic cushion arrangement is essentially one which has a pH under 7. Acidic support arrangements are regularly produced using a powerless corrosive and one of its salts - frequently a sodium salt.
