The distance from -9 to 7 = 16 units.
Distance from -4 to 8 = 12 units.

Divide the two values and add them to the x and y values of the first set and the result will be our midpoint.

16/2 = 8. 8 + -9 = -1
12/2 = 6. 6 + -4 = 2

So our midpoint will be (-1,2)

Answer:

( -1 , 2 ) is the mid point of the line segment JK.

Explanation:

Given coordinates of the points are J( -9 , -4 ) and K( 7 , 8 )

We have to find Mid point of Line segment JK.

Coordinates of mid points are given by =
((x_1+x_2)/(2),(y_1+y_2)/(2))

here
(x_1,y_1)=(-9,-4)\:\:and\:\:(x_1,y_2)=(7,8)

So, Coordinates of the Mid Point of JK =
((-9+7)/(2),(-4+8)/(2))

=
((-2)/(2),(4)/(2))

=
(-1,2)

Therefore, ( -1 , 2 ) is the mid point of the line segment JK.
