It is true that Don Quixote was a Spanish nobleman before deciding to become a knight.
Don in Spanish means a lord, or a nobleman, which Quixote was - he was a rich person in Spain who suddenly decided it was his duty to become a knight and defend the people living there. His main enemies were windmills - Quixote was quite delusional and thought those were real monsters.
