slope of line = rise / run
= (-16-(-8)) / (-17-(-12))
= -8 / -5 = 8/5

using the general form y-y1 = m(x-x1) where m = slope and (x1,y1) is a point in the line we have

y - (-8) = (8/5) ( x -(-12))

y + 8 = (8/5) (x + 12)

y = (8/5) x + 96/5 - 8

y = (8/5) x + 56/5

multiply through by 5:-

5y = 8x + 56
