Answer: The sea

An antagonist is a character that is set against the protagonist (the main character of the story). In this case, the protagonist is Janine, and the character that can most likely become challenging for her is the sea. Antagonists are not always villains. Antagonists are present in a story in order to set up conflicts, obstacles or challenges for the protagonist. Its usage also increases the level of drama.
