There are 42 students on a large bus, and the rest are on a smaller bus. If 40% of the students are on the smaller bus, how many total students are on the two buses?

= 28
28+42=70

There are 70 total students on the two buses.

Answer: 70 students

Explanation:

No. of students in large bus = 42 students

40% are in small bus, therefore 60% are in the large bus;

60/100 = 42/x

Where x = total number of students in the bus.

Making x the subject of formula in the equation,

X = (100*42) / 60

X = 70 students
