let speed of water leaking out = x/h
water left in the tank after 24h=20-(speedxtime)
=20-(24x)
=14
20-24x=14
24x=6
x=1/4

Therefore, answer is (a).

Step
1

Find the amount of water that leaked out from the barrel

Subtract
14 liters from the total of water of the barrel

so

20-14=6\ liters

Find the rate of liters of water leaked out per hour

Divide the amount of water that leaked out from the barrel by
24 hours

(6)/(24) (liters)/(hours)= 0.25(liters)/(hour)

therefore

the answer is

0.25(liters)/(hour)
