1 1/4 lb peanuts = 20 oz.
20 oz. peanut + 12 oz. walnut + 10 oz chocolate chips = 42 oz. trail mix
42 oz trail mix ÷ 8 hikers = 5.25 oz trail mix per hiker

Answer:

Each hiker will get 7 oz of mix.

Explanation:

Trail is mixed with peanuts =
1(1)/(4) pounds

Since 1 pound = 16 oz

1(1)/(4) pounds peanuts =
(16* 5)/(4) = 20 oz

Raisins = 14 oz

Walnuts = 12 oz

Chocolate chips = 10 oz

Total amount of trial mix = 20 + 14 + 12 + 10 = 56 oz

Now Milton divides this mix among 8 hikers so amount of mix each hiker received =
(56)/(8)

= 7 oz

Therefore, each hiker will get 7 oz of mix.
