since we need it in fraction form you need to figure out how many halves are in 3.
you might know it off the top of your head, but if you don't:
3•2 = 6

(6/2)+(1/2) = (7/2)

(7/2) is your improper fraction

Answer: 7/2

Step-by-step explanation: To write a mixed as an improper fraction, first multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add the numerator.

So here, we multiply the denominator (2) by the whole number (3), then we add the numerator which is 1.

(2 x 3) + 1

6 + 1

7/2

Therefore, 3 and 1/2 can be rewritten as the improper fraction 7/2.
