The Puritans were the people that wished to purify the Church of England.
The King refused to let them practice religion freely. As a result, they left England and later ended up starting a new life in the Americas where they could have their culture, beliefs, and freedom. Many Puritans believed the proper religion was the Anglican religion, which they claimed the Bible informed them about.
